Kalamazoo Reindeer Brings Christmas Cheer to Assisted Living Residents

Residents at the Vineyard Assisted Living community in Texas Township, Mich., enjoyed a local reindeer prancing through the halls during their recent holiday party, reports MLive.com . Percy, a female reindeer from Kalamazoo's Reindeer Ranch, visited the community to cheer up its 50 residents. They were allowed to pet and take photos with Percy, who is among 18 reindeer that live at the ranch. Owner Carol Borton said assisted living communities are popular stops for her reindeer during the holidays, especially this year with COVID-19 such a threat. To lift residents' spirits while pandemic restrictions are still in effect, Vineyard staff next plan to hold a drop-by holiday party where Santa will give out raffle prizes, as well as a Christmas pajama party to wrap gifts for residents that will be delivered on Christmas Eve.
