Mulloy states, "For the vulnerable senior population and those living in congregate residential settings, it is increasingly clear frequent, accurate, and effective rapid testing and ultimately, vaccinations, are not only the best defense against COVID-19, but also the best defense against the harmful effects of social isolation. It is also evident communities must be provided the resources necessary to implement and administer these safeguards." Mulloy goes on to advocate for additional federal funding to offset the ongoing and future expenses of essential testing and vaccine administration in these communities, urging readers to contact their elected officials. Mulloy's conclusion: "Ensuring the senior living industry has the financial resources to properly administer testing and future vaccines will aid in supporting the restoration of critical engagement activities and visitation from family and friends."
